Most Live Scan and ink card visits take about ten minutes. Results are typically sent within three business days.

Bring one valid photo ID, such as a California or out-of-state ID or driver’s license, a passport or a military ID. Bring your Live Scan form or FD-258 card if you have one.

Yes. We can print your Live Scan form in the office and provide standard FD-258 ink cards, free of charge.

Live Scan sends your fingerprints electronically to the California Department of Justice and, when required, the FBI. Ink cards (FD-258) are used for FBI checks and for applications outside California. The agency or employer requesting your fingerprints will tell you which one you need.
